Inspired by the historical signature of mosques, vernacular traditional forms, and pure geometry of Islamic patterns, the Alhajj Ali Reza Mosque is conceived as a pure dome floating on serene water in the rural natural scenery. This mosque is designed to respect the memory of the client’s father and his charitable activities at his home village to preserve and retain the memories of the place.

Keeping in tradition with the values and philosophy of exercise-based practice at the firm, Jubair Hasan Architects focused on the aspects of spirituality while respecting the context to create a humble structure amid the natural environment. The Mosque is conceived as a pure brick dome that floats using minimum ground contact using reinforced steel posts on the water that come in contact with the interior plinth for the prayer hall. The whole dome is constructed using bricks with perforation on top, a slit in the western orientation to allow natural light and a perception of direction, and brick jali on the side for ventilation. The choice of material provided the artisans and craftsmen the opportunity to revive the almost-lost construction techniques to erect a pure brick dome that had been practiced and preserved in the historical sites around the country. The associated functions such as ablution space, toilet, room for the imam, and other functions required for the mosque are solved under a single narrow rectangular mass interlocking the dome. The dome houses a two-storied prayer space segregated for the male and female providing ample prayer space for their privacy and spirituality.

The design of the mosque shows utmost respect to the memory of Alhajj Ali Reza and his benevolent contributions to the community by constructing an exciting brick-structured mosque implementing various construction techniques of the same material while also staying humbly rooted to the surrounding environment.
