Situated in the secluded Bhawal forest near Dhaka, the Bhawal Resort and Spa blends the traditional communal quality of rural life with a serene retreat from urban bustle. Inspired by the local flora, fauna, and traditional Bengali houses, the resort’s design echoes the Santal people’s indigenous housing strategies, featuring courtyard-style huts on raised platforms to allow natural water flow.

Covering 40 acres, the architecture evolved organically, prioritizing local materials and craftsmanship. The design uses treated bamboo interiors for sustainability and features unique CC tile roofs with hessian fabric textures. Built with a composite RCC and steel system, the resort accommodates all age groups, focusing on minimal environmental impact and promoting interaction with nature.

The resort’s courtyard layout maximizes natural light and air, fostering seasonal interaction and a peaceful environment. Emphasizing environmental sensitivity, the resort allows guests to experience the serene, natural surroundings and the local wildlife, offering a retreat from urban life.
